Men's Ministry

At Journey, our men's ministry is a place for guys to explore their faith, discover God's design and plan for them, and grow in spiritual maturity.  Our men's ministry engages in a variety of activities to help us to do that, such as retreats, Bible studies, one to one discipleship, and lots of fun.  This is important because in our view there are 3 types of men:

The world's man

If you were to watch TV or read the popular culture, there are basically two types of men portrayed.  One is the man that is pushed around, made fun of and portrayed as stupid and inept.  The other is the man that is completely self-sufficient, cool, sleeps around and has no one to answer to.  Society would have us believe that this is how men are created and there is nothing we can do about it.

God's man
The Bible has a quite a different take on what a man is.  God calls us as men to lead our families with strength and to provide an atmosphere for them to grow spiritually.  He calls us to be men of prayer with dependence on Him.  He calls us to be men of integrity and of godly character.  He wants us to be an "Oak", but do we know how on our own?

The Journey Man
We believe that God has given us the resources to become men like he has described in the Bible.  Through the example of Jesus and authentic friendships with other men, God wants to change us.  We have started a men's ministry for men to encourage, teach and strengthen each other (As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another – Pr. 27:17)
